SOMOS 2020

This year SOMOS was held virtually, but the William Beaumont - Texas Tech Orthopedic Residency continued to dominate the annual meeting. Overall the residency won the Top Residency Research award under the guidance of Dr. John C. Dunn, making this two-years in a row that William Beaumont has received this award. Additionally, Dr. Michael Polmear won the coveted Jamie Dianne Bulken-Hoover Memorial - Best Hand Paper Award for his work on “Repair vs. AIN SETS in Ulnar Nerve Injuries: Cohort Study”

This year the Alumni Association helped facilitate a local COVID-safe meeting for residents and staff to attend the conference. With the support of program leadership, we were able to make the most of the virtual conference.

New Research Initiative

WBAMC/TTUHSC Alumni,

We are excited to announce a new research initiative with the goal to facilitate research of alumni while creating connections between graduates and current residents.

Our goal is to help provide much-needed resources to graduates through the WBAMC Orthopedics department and connect them with a current resident that they will work with on a research project that you are hoping to achieve. To start the process, please use the new form found under “residency” in the top right and click on “Alumni Research Outreach”. The WBTTOAA team will receive the project information and will work to find the perfect resident to match the alumnus with. To aid this process, try and be as specific as possible about what the project is and what resources you may require. The WBTTOAA team will contact you if more information is needed.

Currently we are unable to provide funding, however, separate organization research grants can be discussed with the resident once a match has been made.

Online Donations

Good evening Alumni,

We are excited to announce that we now have the capability of accepting online donations through the website! Any amount would be greatly appreciated and will be used to continue the Association and give us the ability to have alumni events throughout the year. You can find the link under the “Take Action” tab at the top of the page.

There should be a spot to put your email address into the donation form. This will allow me to send you a donation receipt. We are a non-profit organization and part of your donation will be tax deductible!

Thank you for all your support so far!
